Alzheimer’s and Other Forms of Dementia

“Dementia does not rob a person of their dignity. It is our reaction that robs them of their dignity.”   Teepa Snow

Seniors facing the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias need a safe, nurturing environment. We are focused on providing a safe home and individualized programs designed to reduce feelings of confusion, fear, and agitation. We offer meaningful, enjoyable activities that stimulate the mind and body. Our role is to accompany each Resident on their journey, evolving along with them. We enjoy live music and pet therapy visits several times per week. Whether in an early or later stage of dementia, these activities reach everyone.

For early stages of Alzheimer’s/Dementia, our Residents enjoy many physical, adaptive games, giant word puzzles, art and craft making, exercise, baking, etc. For later stages, when a Resident can no longer participate in group activities, they benefit from individual, one-on-one time where we read and sing to them, give hand massages, and enjoy other sensory stimulation activities.

Twice per year, we invite the Alzheimer’s Groupe Inc. to train our team as well as offer information sessions to families and friends of the Manoir. These sessions help demystify Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, helping families understand what to expect, and give them tips on how make the most of each visit with their loved one.
